Protection & Social Welfare
Protection & Social Welfare Program
Protecting Human Dignity and Supporting Vulnerable Communities
Every individual deserves safety, dignity, protection, and access to essential social support services. Across Somalia, vulnerable populations including children, women, older persons, persons with disabilities, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and other at-risk groups often face significant social and protection challenges.
Somali Welfare Society (SWS) works to strengthen protection systems, support vulnerable individuals, and promote social welfare initiatives that improve well-being, resilience, and community inclusion. Through community-based approaches, SWS seeks to ensure that vulnerable people receive the support and protection they need to live with dignity and hope.
Since its establishment in 1993, SWS has supported vulnerable communities through humanitarian assistance, orphan support programs, social welfare initiatives, and community development activities.
Our Protection & Social Welfare Program
The Protection & Social Welfare Program aims to safeguard vulnerable individuals, strengthen community protection mechanisms, and improve access to social support services.
The program focuses on protecting the rights and well-being of vulnerable populations while promoting inclusion, dignity, resilience, and community support systems.
Key Areas of Intervention

Children are among the most vulnerable members of society. SWS supports initiatives that promote child well-being, protection, education, and access to essential services. Special attention is given to orphaned and vulnerable children.
