Livelihoods & Economic Recovery Program

Strengthening Resilience and Creating Sustainable Opportunities

Sustainable livelihoods are essential for reducing poverty, improving household income, and building resilient communities. Across Somalia, many families face economic challenges caused by poverty, unemployment, displacement, climate shocks, and limited access to economic opportunities.

Somali Welfare Society (SWS) works to strengthen livelihoods and support economic recovery by helping vulnerable individuals and communities improve their income-generating capacity, develop skills, and build sustainable sources of livelihood.

Since its establishment in 1993, SWS has supported community development initiatives that promote self-reliance, resilience, and long-term economic well-being.

Our Livelihoods & Economic Recovery Program

The Livelihoods & Economic Recovery Program aims to improve household incomes, enhance economic resilience, and create opportunities for vulnerable populations to achieve sustainable livelihoods.

The program focuses on empowering communities through skills development, economic opportunities, small business support, community recovery initiatives, and resilience-building interventions.

SWS supports skills development initiatives that equip youth, women, and vulnerable individuals with practical knowledge and vocational skills that improve employability and self-employment opportunities.
