Policies

Financial Policy

Somali Welfare Society is committed to responsible financial management, transparent reporting, and careful stewardship of all funds entrusted to the organization. Financial decisions are made according to approved budgets, documented procedures, and clear authorization levels.

All income and expenditure must be recorded accurately and supported by appropriate documentation. SWS maintains internal controls to protect funds, prevent misuse, and ensure that resources are used for their intended charitable and development purposes.

Regular financial reviews, donor reporting, and management oversight help ensure accountability. The organization promotes transparency with partners, beneficiaries, donors, and relevant authorities while protecting confidential financial information.

Recruitment Policy

Somali Welfare Society recruits staff, volunteers, and consultants through fair, transparent, and merit-based processes. Recruitment decisions are guided by the skills, experience, integrity, and suitability required for each role.

SWS is committed to equal opportunity and does not discriminate on the basis of gender, clan, disability, age, background, or personal belief. Selection processes may include application review, interviews, reference checks, and safeguarding screening where relevant.

All team members are expected to uphold the values of the organization, comply with internal policies, and contribute to a respectful, safe, and professional working environment.

Procurement Policy

Somali Welfare Society conducts procurement in a transparent, competitive, and accountable manner to obtain good value while maintaining quality, fairness, and integrity. Procurement decisions must be based on documented needs, approved budgets, and clear specifications.

Where appropriate, SWS seeks quotations from qualified suppliers and evaluates offers using price, quality, reliability, delivery time, and compliance with requirements. Conflicts of interest must be declared and managed before any procurement decision is made.

Procurement records are retained for audit, donor reporting, and organizational accountability. Suppliers are expected to follow ethical standards and deliver goods or services as agreed.

Child Protection Policy

Somali Welfare Society is committed to protecting children from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and harm in every program and activity. The safety, dignity, and best interests of children are central to our work.

Staff, volunteers, partners, and representatives must treat children with respect, maintain appropriate boundaries, and report any safeguarding concern through established channels. SWS promotes safe recruitment, awareness, supervision, and response procedures.

Any allegation or concern involving child protection is taken seriously and handled with confidentiality, urgency, and care. The organization works to create child-safe environments where vulnerable children can learn, grow, and receive support without fear.
